Editor, December 22-23rd 2005

Week's job : EDITOR

Date : December 22-23rd 2005

Cast :

James, Lone Wolf - Editors

The Black Knight and The Lone Wolf united for a decisive clash but this time in the editing room, as both edited the masterpiece that was shot over 2 thursdays. It took more or less 6 hours altogether to edit the bits of coverage that Rico shot.

Notes to the Black Knight:

- Added a 6th Audio Track (well hey some of Lord of the Rings scenes had 17 :s ) anyway, this was to put the music into Stereo mode.
- Tried to edit the mishap on the dialogue, but cannot detect that faulty microframe, i think it's too small.
- Edited an audio piece during combat, because voices can be heard.
- Last part of my dialogue at the end was in Mono, doubled the track so it is Stereo.

Gonna play with it some more over the holiday, see what else can be done/discovered.

All the video sequences are edited using AVid which is the industry standard software for editing. I had the software ages ago, but I didn't know how in the heck to use it until I made a mad dash to the film school and learned how ;)

Later,
Lone Wolf

Actor / Assistant Director / Boom Operator / Slate Operator, December 15th 2005

Week's job : ACTOR/ASSISTANT DIRECTOR/ BOOM OPERATOR/ SLATE OPERATOR

Date : December 15th 2005

Cast :

James - Director, Writer
Lone Wolf - Assistant Director, Script Editor
Ricardo - Camera Operator
James, Lone Wolf - Actors
John, Lone Wolf - Boom Operators
James, Yosuke, Lone Wolf - Slate Operators

Well, we shot this thing. I found it pretty damn good, with about 11 or 12 coverage scenes. Got to swing the swords again, and today we really exchanged heavy blows, and we did it much faster than before.

Back to the shooting, it was really great, I got to climb up and be assistant director as well as continuing my acting part. I was much more focused than last week too so only once or twice i messed up, or forgot to say the line . Even though very few people were in the studio we still had some noise problems, and had to call for quiet many times. I know it's annoying when there are small shots every 20 seconds or so, but come on, it's not a holiday camp. We got more or less half the script done sort of. I don't know what we're doing next week, but I hope we can do more of this.

Anyway, I'm felt knocked out and tired, i couldn't feel my legs, it's THAT exhausting. Thanks to the gang, Ricardo for always changing the height levels of the camera, John for doing sound and James for being very open and accepting or considering suggestions...

Oh, and since it was exam week at the film school, we couldn't see what we shot on thursday, so i can't wait till tomorrow and the editing class so that we can review the shots. I know this is very bad now, and I sincerely apologize, but I forgot to take pictures and videos of the set AGAIN!! Shoot me. I will try to do that on Thursday, it looks great, and it's so simple.

Instead it's Final Fantasy mania at the Lone Wolf's, so I include some Final Fantasy artwork on the page this time. There are no downloads.

Thanks,
Lone Wolf

Actor / Set Coordinator, December 8th 2005

Week's job : ACTOR/SET COORDINATOR

Date : December 8th 2005

Cast :

James - Director
John, Ricardo - Camera Operator
James, Lone Wolf - Actors
Justin, Neill, Luke - Boom Operators

I came in early to the school, about an hour before class actually. The idea was to take the camera test...well that never happened again. Anyways. The board was set this week, the pieces were moving, we had the idea to shoot two sword fighting scenes, and three dialogue scenes in between.

To create the set we used a shit load of walls, an empty grid that we used to attach some color gels to. We also used a funky looking tree, that gave a nice effect of a tree outside the window. The idea was to emulate an old church. Oh ya, we also found a door, we couldn't open it, but we could push it aside and go through, it gave the feel of this ancient door that doesn't even hold on the doorway anymore.

The set was pretty cool, we started rehearsing late, stuff kept happening. Cameras needed to be set, sound operators were disappearing all the time, that's why we had three of them!!

We got the first dialogue done, moved on to sword fighting scenes, we still have lots to shoot next week and I can't wait. Sometimes we screwed up on our lines, both of us, and we made the class laugh sometimes, so I guess all good.

Sadly, I don't know why, maybe we were in the Twilight Zone but the video I took of the set DID NOT SAVE on my phone :( I dunno what happened honest, so instead this week's download has a video of our lighting set as were preparing it, and yes there's James in all his glory :D

The picture below? Oh am I on tape? Hehe, just John and James trying to figure out the camera.

You can download a short video sequence of the set here!

You'll need Apple Quicktime to playback, if you don't have the latest version, you can download for free at Apple

Thanks,
Lone Wolf

Camera Operator / Director, December 1st 2005

Week's job : CAMERA OPERATOR/DIRECTOR AND PRETTY MUCH A BIT OF EVERYTHING ELSE

Date : December 1st 2005

Cast :

John, Lone Wolf - Directors
Lone Wolf - Camera Operator
Ricardo, Yosuke, James - Actors

I came to film school a bit earlier so that I could watch my tape and remember how the stage was set up. After that me and John along with Ricardo moved to our lab. I found out fast enough that there was nobody there to help us with the set building or lights or any of those. So I had to do it all with John and James. James for once did not touch the lights :D me and John took care of those. I also did my favorite job later on as I was camera operator. I had the nice job to zoom in and out as well as capturing essential motion. No kidding, that IS the job of a camera op, and it's not easy at all, it requires some flair, and talent to execute the move perfectly.

I was happy because I really got to do everything with my gang, we really did a great job, and very efficient too since we finished on time. We took advantage of a lack of directors to do pick ups and coverage on John's mastershot, and I also made two quick shots for my own.

The download this week includes no video for once, as it was the exact same set as before with the ww2 thing. However, I have included 3 pictures that I took of the only people available for us at the time: James and John. I was seriously exhausted after Thursday, my feet were just killing me so much. Since I had to stand while bended and operate the camera. We had limited space on the set, but we got it, no more of that set for quite some time :D

This week's picture is again of James, as the Russian Sergeant wearing his fur hat and pointing a gun at me..zoiks.. :s

You can download pictures from the set here!

Thanks,
Lone Wolf
